Content: The film vividly recreates the image of female doctor and martyr Dang Thuy Tram, a young female doctor from Hanoi. Content: The film tells about the last days in Hanoi before the outbreak of the national resistance war (December 19, 1946). Lam, a law student, returned to the city and was introduced to work at the Bac Bo Palace. He was assigned to be the liaison between President Ho Chi Minh and the French High Commissioner Saintery. At this time, all official negotiations were considered deadlocked because the French military commanders deliberately caused conflicts to use force to retake the old colony. Faced with this situation, President Ho Chi Minh tried to maintain contact with the French government, hoping to find solutions to resolve the conflicts through negotiations. Lam's wife Le went into labor when the gunfire of the resistance war began. Content:Returning home after a trip to visit her husband at the southwestern border, Duyen carried an indescribable pain in her heart: Her husband had sacrificed himself. That pain caused her to fall into the river while crossing the river. Teacher Khang went with her to save her. When she got home, Duyen hid the news of her husband's sacrifice from everyone, especially her father-in-law who was sick. To comfort her father-in-law, Duyen asked teacher Khang to occasionally write letters for her like when her husband was still alive, to send home to reassure him. Because of this unavoidable relationship, Khang was misunderstood by his lover and the school, and had to move to another place. Content: The film depicts a peaceful Hanoi with many changes from 1954 to the late 1980s. Life changes but is seen through the eyes of Mr. Hoa - a man who works as a model at the Fine Arts School - who lives forever with the memories and old age of a 13-year-old boy after being injured. Sitting in a villa with a guava tree that has been used by others, Mr. Hoa still wanders back to his childhood memories every day, despite the prohibitions and threats of other "normal" people. To avoid being bothered by a "stranger" disturbing him, the landlord took Hoa to a mental hospital. A dose of sedatives turned Hoa into a person who lost all his memory, a person without consciousness.

Content: Loan, a teacher from Hanoi, was assigned to teach in a coastal area in the South. Loan met Hung, her roommate's brother, in an unexpected love affair. Due to family pressure, Hung had to cross the border with his wife and children. Loan married Tuan, her high school friend, after six years of studying abroad. Tuan studied physics but threw himself into business. Loan dropped out of school and "confined herself" in a villa. Hung returned to the country as a representative of a foreign company, with an economic contract with director Tuan. After working with Hung, Tuan sent his secretary to "negotiate" with him to ask for two trips abroad with the contract. At first, Hung did not agree, but when he learned that Tuan was Loan's husband, he agreed. Tuan and his secretary went abroad to "work". Loan returned to her teaching job at Buoi school, her hometown.
