Following the activities commemorating the 100th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's departure to find a way to save the country, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in collaboration with the Vietnam Film Institute organized film days about President Ho Chi Minh.On the evening of June 3, 2011, the staff and students of the School participated in an exchange and meeting with the film crew of “Looking Out to the Sea” - a film about the youth of President Ho Chi Minh. The film script won second prize in the film script writing contest responding to the campaign “Studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh”, and was ordered by the state for the celebration of the 120th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday in 2010. The film has a total budget of 7.2 billion VND. Attending the exchange were Mr. Nguyen Quang Trung (Deputy Director of the Vietnam Film Institute), screenwriter Nguyen Thi Hong Ngat - Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Cinema Association and also the scriptwriter of the film “Looking Out to the Sea”, Meritorious Artist Vu Chau - director of the film “Looking Out to the Sea”, actor Minh Duc - the role of Nguyen Tat Thanh in the film “Looking Out to the Sea”... “Looking Out to the Sea” has many differences and many new features compared to previous films about Uncle Ho. Screenwriter Nguyen Thi Hong Ngát shared: The biggest difficulty for the film crew was that there had been many previous films about Ho Chi Minh's life, which would have been duplicated if not done properly, but the period when he was a physical education teacher at Duc Thanh School had not been "touched" by anyone, when he was 18 years old. Especially creating the setting for the film. "Looking out to the sea" was quite elaborate because it had to completely recreate the scenery, props, and costumes of the early 20th century. The film's script began when the two sons Thanh - Dat of the Vice-Chancellor Nguyen Sinh Sac studied at Quoc Hoc Hue. The younger brother Nguyen Tat Thanh participated in interpreting for farmers during the protest against high taxes and was expelled from school. His father sent him to Phan Thiet to teach at Duc Thanh School. The film depicts the image of a dedicated teacher who knows how to love and wholeheartedly impart knowledge to his students. Sharing his feelings when playing the role of Nguyen Tat Thanh in the film "Looking out to the sea", actor Minh Duc said: Receiving the role was very happy and proud but also very worried because of the pressure of previous roles about Uncle Ho that were very successful. After going through a rather difficult process of getting into the role, his role finally satisfied the director and the audience. Right after the exchange program, meeting with the film crew, the staff and students of the School were able to watch the film "Looking out to the sea". From June 3 to June 8, the film days about President Ho Chi Minh will continue to be organized with a number of other films about Uncle Ho.
