On the occasion of the 86th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Journalism (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2011), the website of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities reviews notable events and figures about journalism and journalism training.
On the occasion of the 86th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Journalism (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2011), the website of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities reviews notable events and figures about journalism and journalism training.On June 21, 1925, the first issue of Thanh Nien newspaper founded by President Ho Chi Minh was published in Guangzhou (China), opening the way for the Vietnamese revolutionary press. June 21 is annually taken as the traditional day of Vietnamese journalists. As of March 2011, in the field of print journalism, the whole country had 745 press agencies with 1,003 publications. In the field of radio and television, the whole country had 67 stations, including 3 radio and television stations at the central level (VTV, VTC, VOV) and 64 radio and television stations at the local level with 200 domestically produced television channels and 67 foreign channels (currently being broadcast on the pay television system). In the field of electronic information, the country has 46 electronic newspapers and electronic magazines, 287 electronic news sites of press agencies and thousands of electronic news sites of Party, State, Government agencies, organizations, associations and enterprises, one State News Agency, Vietnam News Agency (VNA). Also as of March 2011, there were 17,000 journalists granted Press Cards among hundreds of thousands of people working in the field of press and communication nationwide. Training and research facilities for press and communication include: Academy of Journalism and Communication under Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Public Administration; Faculty of Journalism and Communication, University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNU. These two facilities train all levels of bachelor, master and doctorate in press and communication; Faculty of Journalism and Communication, University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNU-HCM and Faculty of Journalism and Communication, University of Sciences - Hue University. These two units train bachelors. In addition to the four above-mentioned undergraduate and postgraduate training institutions, there are also the Central Radio and Television College 1 (Phu Ly) and Central 2 (Ho Chi Minh City) under the Voice of Vietnam (VOV); Thuong Tin Television College - Hanoi under Vietnam Television (VTV). The Center for Journalism and Communication under the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNU is the first model currently among journalism and communication training institutions, performing the following functions: training for the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, producing media products, opening short-term training courses to grant English and Vietnamese certificates and information, promoting the image of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and VNU. These training institutions play an important role in providing human resources for the country's journalism and communication in a professional and modern direction.
