Receiving the delegation of the Academy of Journalism and Communication, Fudan University (China)

On June 12, 2018, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi Minh Hoa (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) received and worked with a delegation from the Academy of Journalism and Communication, Fudan University (China) led by Dr. Chu Diec (Secretary of the Academy's Party Committee). Also attending the meeting were representatives from the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, and the Department of Cooperation and Development.

At the meeting, Dr. Chu Diec briefly introduced the Academy of Journalism and Communication (BC&TT), Fudan University. The Academy is the number one journalism training institution in China, with 1,600 students, including 200 international students. The Academy has 4 faculties: Faculty of Journalism, Faculty of Advertising, Faculty of Communication, Faculty of Radio and Television; all 4 faculties have doctoral training levels. The Academy focuses on the 2+2 training form, according to which students will study at another faculty at Fujian University for 2 years, then return to the institution to complete the program. Dr. Chu Diec said that the Academy currently offers 20 postgraduate scholarships to countries under the "One Belt, One Road" policy of the Chinese government. He hopes to receive support from students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. He believes that the similarities between Vietnam and China will help Vietnamese students quickly integrate into the learning environment in the host country. He also invited representatives of the Board of Directors and staff of the school to visit the Academy's training facilities next year.

On behalf of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Associate Professor Dr. Tran Thi Minh Hoa expressed her gratitude for the sharing and suggestions of Dr. Chu Diec. The Vice President said that on May 9, 2017, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities welcomed Prof. Thach Nguyen Hoa (Director of the Center for Research on China and Neighboring Countries) of Fudan University. To further expand the areas of cooperation, the Vice President hopes that the two schools will soon sign an official memorandum of understanding in the near future.

On the side of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong (Dean of the Faculty) also shared information about the activities of the Faculty. Currently, the Faculty is one of the two leading journalism training institutions in Vietnam, with majors from undergraduate to doctoral levels. The Faculty is implementing a strategy to upgrade to the Institute of Journalism and Communication Training with the main fields being journalism and communication, multimedia communication, PR-Advertising, and communication management. Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong said that the Faculty has cooperated with many Chinese partners, so it can ensure the Chinese proficiency of students. The Faculty will select suitable candidates to register for the scholarship program proposed by the Academy. In addition, the Faculty wishes to cooperate with the Academy in organizing international scientific conferences, conducting joint research, and publishing internationally.

Fudan University was founded in 1905 in Shanghai. Currently, the majors at Fudan University are quite diverse, including humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, engineering, management, science, and medicine. The school has 15 academies with full-day study programs such as the Academy of Foreign Languages, Academy of Journalism and Communication, Academy of Science, Shanghai Medical College, and Academy of Software. Currently, Fudan University has become one of the influential academic centers internationally, with cooperative relations with more than 200 universities and research institutions from nearly 30 countries and regions.
