(SVVN) Dinh Bui My Hanh - a third-year student majoring in Social Work, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) is the Captain of the USSH Social Work Student Team. My Hanh has a great passion for social work because she enjoys helping others. Hanh finds this a meaningful and humane field of study because it pursues the goal of human welfare, happiness and social progress, helping disadvantaged people solve problems.
Seeing the appearance of a smart, quick-witted, and courageous leader of the Student Social Work Team, few people know that when she was a high school student, she was also very shy, self-conscious, and had many invisible fears.
A little girl with a warm heart and a passion for helping people
One thing that is a little different from most of my classmates is that before that, all my wishes were to study Social Work. At that time, to be honest, I just thought that I really liked helping others, and I also did some tests to understand myself better, and when choosing a major, they suggested that I study this major. So I chose it. Now that I am a third-year student, my awareness of the major has expanded a little.
For me, Social Work is an extremely interesting and humane profession because it pursues the goal of human welfare, happiness and social progress. It is an applied science, a professional activity to help disadvantaged people solve problems, improve their ability to solve problems themselves, and perform social functions well.

People often confuse Social Work with volunteering. Actually, it is not true. To put it simply, charity gives you a fish and social work gives you a fishing rod. The sustainability of social work's support activities and the mission of the profession are what I always cherish and have never regretted choosing to study this field.
Another special thing that makes me love my major even more is that thanks to it, I have the opportunity to become a member of the Social Work Student Team. For me, becoming a “cúc đár” (the affectionate name of my team) is an extremely great honor and pride.

Stepping out of your comfort zone is giving yourself the opportunity to experience.
Actually, since middle school and high school, I have really enjoyed volunteer activities, but I was very shy back then. When I went to university, I was determined to “break out of my cocoon”, overcome the countless “but” fears in my head and give myself the opportunity to experience more. And then I applied for the Student Social Work Team and was lucky enough to become a member.
Going through volunteer campaigns with the team, I feel that I have matured and become much stronger than before. After each volunteer trip, I often fall into a state of "dependence" for a long time. Because volunteer campaigns have given me so many unforgettable experiences and memories. Volunteer trips have allowed me to witness and see situations and lives that are still facing countless difficulties out there, making me appreciate and be more grateful for my current life. In particular, through the programs, the consensus and enthusiasm of the volunteers in the Team, the sharing of the sponsors help to strengthen my positive beliefs about life - the spirit of mutual love, solidarity and love of the community.

I also feel very proud. Proud of myself, proud of our Social Work Student Team who have always Dare to Think - Dare to Act with a passionate, burning heart and determination, making relentless efforts on the journey of kindness for over a decade. I think not only me but also the Team members after the campaigns are very happy because we have been able to contribute, experience, and learn many things.
Strive to study and work tirelessly, determined to become the pride of your parents.
My family's condition was just enough to eat and wear, my siblings were also a bit special, so since I was little I realized the hardships and immense pressure on my parents. Therefore, from a young age until now, I have only known to always try my best in studying to be able to become the pride of my parents. There was a time when my mother was seriously ill, the family's economy was really a bit difficult. At that time, when I was young, I couldn't help my parents at all, I was helpless and scared. I promised myself from that time that I had to try, try harder to study well, when I was young I simply thought "to make my parents happy", when I grew up, I just wanted to grow up soon so that I could help my parents in some way.
Sharing a little, but I still always feel extremely lucky to be born into a family where everyone always loves and supports me, creating the best conditions for me to study and develop. That is a great motivation for me to continue to try harder every day.

During my studies, I tried many different part-time jobs to earn more income, share the financial burden with my parents, and also to accumulate more experiences. I used to work as a Sushi counter staff at Aeon Mall Long Bien; a bandage removal collaborator and currently I am working as a Customer Care Collaborator at the Social Work Department of E Hospital. The jobs I have done with completely different natures, to me, are all extremely valuable experiences and opportunities for me to expand my relationships, develop myself more in terms of experience, knowledge, skills, and life perspective.
The view of constantly learning and developing oneself to become a useful person for society and country
In my opinion, to become a useful person for society, young people first of all need to constantly study and develop themselves. This is our right and also our duty. For students like us, cultivating knowledge and skills, becoming a professional in our field is a goal that I think every young person always strives for - contributing talent and effort to the common construction of the country. Besides, nurturing a healthy lifestyle, good habits, knowing how to love and take care of yourself, making yourself happy is also an important factor. Because just being healthy and wise will also spread positive spirit to everyone around - also a form of contributing to society.

Young people should also devote their youth to social activities such as volunteering, participating in sustainable development campaigns... because this not only helps society become more civilized, fair and sustainable, but it will also bring young people many valuable experiences, experiences and lessons.
