Nguyen Thi Phuong Lan: 'The one who spreads the fire' through volunteer activities

All limits are in the mind.
Phuong Lan was born and raised in Bac Giang, a girl full of energy and enthusiasm. Ever since she was in school, she has participated in many volunteer activities in the locality. In 2021, Lan became the Captain of the School's Student Social Work Team. In this role, Lan led the Team to organize many charity fundraising campaigns with significant amounts of money such as: Dong Am Xuan Lac (80 million VND), Uoc Nguoc Cua Gio (80 million VND) and most recently Hoa Nang Ban Mai (100 million VND).

Thanks to her enthusiasm and efforts as a young woman, Phuong Lan has achieved remarkable results. The female student was honored to represent the Student Social Work Team to receive a certificate of merit at the 2023 National Volunteer Awards ceremony on the evening of December 3 in Ho Chi Minh City.
To achieve such admirable achievements, Phuong Lan encountered many difficulties. The female student shared: “One of the biggest difficulties is that the members of the Team think that they cannot do it. However, with determination and enthusiasm, Phuong Lan and the members of the Team overcame the difficulties. The female student launched campaigns to open "files" to reach new audiences, cooperated with different volunteer organizations to utilize resources and encourage the community to do good deeds, and actively participated in communication competitions to help the Team's image get closer to many different audiences.
“I launched campaigns with the aim of reaching new audiences so that I could successfully raise funds by collaborating with different volunteer organizations. This is a way to leverage the resources of all parties and encourage the community to do good deeds and actively participate in competitions. In addition, to promote the image of the Team to many different audiences,” the female student confided. One of the factors that created the strength to help Phuong Lan overcome those difficulties was being inspired by the saying of the founder of the project "Nuoi em" - Mr. Hoang Hoa Trung: "Never think that you are a student, students can only do this. Your own limits lie in your own thoughts". This is like a compass that helps Phuong Lan do many extraordinary things.
Volunteering is bringing value to the community
Phuong Lan believes that instead of just giving gifts, volunteers should aim for sustainable development for the locality, such as building projects to help them change their consciousness, building schools to raise awareness about education for children. This is also the goal that she has set for herself with the volunteer activities of the Social Work Student Team that she leads.

Thanks to this perspective, Phuong Lan has led the school’s Student Social Work Team to organize many meaningful volunteer projects, bringing practical values ​​to the community. A typical example is the “Hoa Nang Ban Mai” project that built a new school for children in Son La, helping them have the opportunity to access education.
Besides volunteering, Phuong Lan always strives to study and achieves high academic achievements. She believes that the most important thing is to have clear goals and determine priorities for work. Phuong Lan also has to admit that time is the biggest obstacle in solving work problems. To overcome difficulties in all circumstances, she has set a working motto - "Work to have free time, not to have free time." To work more efficiently and manage her time better, she discovered the Pomodoro learning method. Using the Pomodoro time chart, Phuong Lan estimates the time it will take her to complete a task, thereby helping her to complete tasks quickly and effectively.
Not only is Phuong Lan a shining example of volunteering, she is also someone who actively spreads the spirit of volunteering to the community. She regularly participates in talks and shares her experiences of volunteering with young people. She is also one of the founders of the project “Volunteering - Fire of Love”, a project that aims to inspire and encourage young people to participate in volunteering.

With her achievements and tireless efforts, Nguyen Thi Phuong Lan has become a shining example for young people, a great source of motivation for volunteer activities. Wishing Phuong Lan will continue to reap more success in the future, contributing to bringing good values ​​to the community.
