English proficiency assessment according to TOEIC standards

On November 17, 2012, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in cooperation with the AMA International English Academy organized the first test in the English proficiency assessment test. 421 students from 4 high-quality training programs and the Faculty of Tourism Studies spent 120 minutes taking the test. The test was in the standard TOEIC format of IIG Vietnam.Dr. Nghiem Xuan Huy (Deputy Director of the Training Quality Assurance Center, Head of the Training Consulting Group) said: The purpose of this exam is first of all for students to help them know their English proficiency based on an international standard. Then, through the results of this exam, the School will have a more objective view as well as necessary changes and adjustments in foreign language training for students. The ultimate goal is to find promising students to grant English scholarships. The exam questions are related to daily situations in work and daily life, with special attention paid to knowledge and vocabulary related to Economics, Accounting - Auditing, Finance - Banking, etc. The difficulty of the exam will increase gradually in each section. For students, this is an exam to self-assess their level, referenced on the TOEIC standard system. Therefore, although the training program follows European standards, the students' actual abilities are still revealed through this exam. It is expected that after 5 days of the exam, the official results will be available. Immediately after that, the Consulting and Training Support Team will have a plan to advise students in need. After 4 rounds of exams, 8 English scholarships for the Real TOEIC course organized by AMA International English Academy will be awarded to students with high results. According to the schedule, on November 24, 2012, students majoring in Linguistics and Oriental Studies will participate in the next round of exams. Majors such as Journalism, Vietnam Studies, Political Science, and International Studies will take the exam at the end of the first semester, on January 26, 2013.
