This morning, September 5, 2010, more than 1,200 new students of course K55 gathered happily at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to complete admission procedures.Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu - Head of the Department of Politics and Student Affairs - said: "The total number of students who received the summons is 1,351, today 1,261 students came to enroll. The remaining students will enroll later due to lack of documents or illness."
Go to school early in the morning
From 6am, many new students and their parents, along with their belongings, were waiting in front of the school gate. Ms. Nguyen Thi Huyen (Quang Ninh), parent of student Nguyen Thi Huyen Thu (Faculty of Literature), shared: "From the day I heard the news that my child had passed the university entrance exam until now, I have been nervous. Last night, my child and I couldn't sleep, we woke up early to prepare our child's belongings for school. At 3am, my child and I took a bus from Quang Ninh to school to enroll." The excitement, confusion, joy and pride were clearly visible on the faces of each new student. With the enthusiastic help of teachers and volunteer students, the new students completed the admission procedures quickly and smoothly. Dang Phuong Hanh (Faculty of Management Science) confided: “Although the first day of school was very crowded and fun, I still felt strange. However, the volunteer students were very friendly and guided me enthusiastically through the admission process.” Sharing the difficulties and confusion on the first day of school and her plan to prepare for the school year, Hanh said: “I completed the admission procedures quickly, but because there were so many students, waiting for a photo to be taken for a student card took a long time. In the new school year, I am looking for information about the entrance exam for high-quality classes. Since I was preparing for the university entrance exam, I have not focused much on studying English. Therefore, I am very worried about the entrance exam for high-quality classes.”
Just enrolled in school and worried about finding a place to live
Accommodation is the biggest concern for most new students, when they have just set foot in the capital from different regions to study in a new environment with many differences. While waiting for her nephew to complete the admission procedures, Ms. Ha Thi Luong (Ha Tinh) took the opportunity to ask for information about accommodation in the dormitory, hoping that tomorrow when the accommodation for students under the policy is completed, she can quickly register for a place for her nephew.

The number of rooms in the dormitory is quite limited with 250, so it cannot meet all the needs of students. Many students have come to Hanoi many days ago to find a place to stay. Nguyen Thi Hang (from Thai Binh, a student of the Faculty of Literature) said: "I have been here for a few days. Luckily, I came early so I found a room to stay near the school." On the first bustling day of school, pride filled the eyes of the new students, although they knew that hidden in that were still many worries.
