The training course with the theme "Choosing left-wing theories in a changing world" was organized by the Center for Policy Research and Analysis at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities from December 17 to December 23, 2009.

The training course with the theme "Choosing left-wing theories in a changing world" was organized by the Center for Policy Research and Analysis at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities from December 17 to December 23, 2009.

This is one of the activities of the project "Research on appropriate left-wing theories in the transition process in Vietnam" jointly implemented by the Rosa Luxemburg Institute, Federal Republic of Germany and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

The training course is aimed at staff and lecturers at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, experts in the field of Philosophy and Policy working at the Institute of Strategy and Policy of Science and Technology, Institute of Philosophy, Institute of Asian Studies, Regional Political Academy I, National Academy of Public Administration, Academy of Journalism and Communication...

The lecturers participating in the presentation are Prof. Normal Levine (University of Maryland, USA) and Vietnamese experts such as Prof. Hoang Chi Bao, Prof. Pham Khiem Ich, and Prof. Luu Dat Thuyet.

Training contents include:

  • Historical development of Marxism
  • Leftist Theory of the State in Socialism
  • Leftist Theory of Market Economy in Socialism
  • Leftist Theory of Civil Society in Socialism
  • Socialist Innovation in Vietnam
  • Social democracy and the social democratic movement...

At this training course, along with gaining a better understanding of left-wing theories in European countries, the trainees also had the opportunity to discuss and express their views on Marxism as well as issues related to building and developing a socialist-oriented market economy, building a rule-of-law state and developing civil society in Vietnam.
