According to Mr. Tran Hinh, head of the Cinema Project, the 4th course, which lasted from November 2008 to October 2009, was the course with the most diverse composition of students. Not only did they come from many different regions of the country, the students were also very diverse in terms of qualifications, some had never heard of cinema, some had been trained in cinema, some had just graduated from university, some were officials, and some came from technical majors... Starting with 38 students, up to now, 26 students have completed their graduation thesis and received certificates from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Immediately after finishing their thesis, two short film projects, two research projects and one translation project of the 4th course students received scholarships from the program to implement.
The Ford Foundation-funded film project began in 2005. Course 4 was the opening year of Phase 2 of the Project. Compared to the first 3 courses, Course 4 was identified as an advanced course. In addition to remaining faithful to the original goal of training a generation of world-class film writers, Course 4 also had many activities that created opportunities for students to actually work in the profession when many filming and editing equipment were equipped and put into use for the first time. Students began to produce their own works using the equipment in the classroom. This was also the first course to organize a summer film festival.
After 4 training courses, 3 students of the Project are continuing their postgraduate studies at the University of California Film School. Many episodes written by the project students have been broadcast on television, many professional film articles have been published in newspapers and magazines. And more importantly, according to Mr. Tran Hinh, a film environment has gradually formed right in the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Another outstanding result of the project is the formation of the Department of Art Studies under the Faculty of Literature - University of Social Sciences and Humanities. In the future, the University intends to build a postgraduate training program in Art Studies.
Course 5 has 34 students, study time from November 2009 to October 2010.
