Topic: "On the Edge: Pre-Doi Moi land relations in a suburban village of Hanoi"
Summary: This paper presents preliminary findings from a research exploring how a place called Hoa Muc, located in the suburbs of Hanoi, has shifted from being an agricultural village to become an urban neighborhood. The paper focuses on the evolution of land-uses and land relations since the colonial era in relation to class-reproduction, socio-economic differentiation, and the persistence of small-scale private-initiated economic activities.
