The Organizing Committee respectfully invites scientists, experts and researchers to write papers to participate in the conference "National Master Khuong Viet and Vietnamese Buddhism in the early era of independence", which will be held in March 2011.Master Khuong Viet (933 - 1011) was a National Master - Prime Minister, a cultural figure, an outstanding politician - diplomat - military man of the time. On the occasion of the 1000th anniversary of the passing away of National Master Khuong Viet 1011 - 2011 (Agricultural calendar: February 15, Tan Hoi year - February 15, Tan Mao year), the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, in collaboration with the Vietnam Buddhist Academy in Hanoi, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha organized the International Scientific Conference "National Master Khuong Viet and Vietnamese Buddhism in the Early Era of Independence" in March 2011.
1. Purpose of the Workshop
The purpose of the Conference is to discuss, evaluate and honor the stature of National Master Khuong Viet as well as the role of Vietnamese Buddhism in the early era of independence and today.
2. Content of the Workshop
To achieve the above-mentioned purpose, the Conference focuses on researching and discussing specific scientific issues as follows: - The economic, political, ideological, cultural and religious context of Vietnam in the early era of independence. - National Master Khuong Viet: Life, religious career and contributions (Research on the life and religious career of National Master Khuong Viet; The relationship, position and role of National Master Khuong Viet in the political system of Vietnam at that time; The contributions of National Master Khuong Viet in politics, ideology, national culture as well as contributions to the development of Vietnamese Buddhism; etc.) - The influence of Vietnamese Buddhism on the history of Vietnam in the early era of independence (Research on the role and specific contributions of Buddhism, especially Zen masters in the political, diplomatic, ideological, cultural and religious aspects, etc. of Vietnam in the early era of independence). - Buddhism in the current development of Vietnamese society (Research the position, role and contributions of Vietnamese Buddhism to specific issues such as: Building great national unity; Influence of Buddhism on the ethics and lifestyle of Vietnamese people; Role of Buddhism in preserving and promoting traditional cultural values of the nation; etc.).
3. Language used in the Conference
- The conference will be conducted in Vietnamese and English. The conference organizers will arrange translation if the papers are written in other languages.
4. Time of organization
The workshop is scheduled to take place over 2 days, March 19-20, 2011.
