On the morning of September 25, 2010, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan and a delegation from the Government and the Ministry of Education and Training visited and worked at the School.The Deputy Prime Minister's visit aimed to evaluate and review the two-level university model and the outstanding achievements of the USSH over the past 10 years since it became a member of VNU, along with the management system and relationships between member schools. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh - Rector of the University - reviewed the important milestones in the development process, organizational structure and scale of the University. Along with that, the Rector reported on some of the outstanding achievements of the University in training, scientific research, international cooperation, facilities, finance and conditions for training and research, and development strategy.

In particular, the Rector proposed a number of recommendations to the working group, which are: Early promulgation of the revised Decree on the National University to continue to affirm the National University model, enhance the leading role and position of the National University in the national education system. There should be special investment mechanisms and policies so that the National University in general and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in particular can fulfill their "leading" mission well, on that basis, quickly rise to international standards in the second decade of this century. There should be special policies in attracting training and fostering talents, on the basis of being given high autonomy in enrollment, financial revenue and expenditure, including tuition fees. Allowing the strengthening of facilities in the inner city of Hanoi, continuing to invest to meet the needs of continuous development, while not being able to build a new facility in Hoa Lac. The Ministry of Education and Training needs to quickly recognize and grant training codes for a number of undergraduate and postgraduate training majors that VNU has piloted and that have been tested to be of good quality. Also at the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister and the delegation listened to 9 recommendations from the key staff of the University, representatives of the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Science and Technology, focusing on the following issues: the national university model, the autonomy of VNU and its member schools, the structure of the teaching staff, the mechanism and policies for civil servants, the progress of the construction of the Hoa Lac campus, etc. Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan listened to the recommendations of the University and directly discussed with the key staff of the University on a number of key issues as follows: The Government always pays special attention to and focuses on the roadmap for the construction and development of VNU. However, the University needs to promote and be more proactive in all areas. Schools need to soon complete a high-quality teaching staff, especially the team of professors. The role of the Principal in this is extremely important. Autonomy, self-responsibility and need for assessment and supervision. Focus on research on urgent issues, suitable to the actual situation (Right at the working session, the Deputy Prime Minister directly proposed that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities coordinate with research institutions to establish a research group on "Vietnamese family issues in current development, solutions and recommendations"). On behalf of the University, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh accepted the Deputy Prime Minister's direction and gradually included it in the University's plan to further improve the quality of training. The Principal expressed his hope that the Government and higher-level agencies would create more favorable conditions for VNU in general and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in particular to further enhance their role of autonomy and self-responsibility.

Before the working session, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan and the delegation visited a number of facilities under the University: Faculty of History, Museum of Anthropology, Cinema Project, Center for Journalism and Communication, and observed a Han Nom class.
