At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh introduced the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – a member of the VNU system, emphasizing the University’s internationalization strategy. One of the University’s international cooperation activities is to implement summer courses with the participation of both Vietnamese and international students, such as the 2019 Global Politics Course co-organized with the Free University of Berlin (Germany). The President hopes that the University can carry out similar activities with Langara College.
Prof. Avram Agov highly appreciated the goodwill of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Based on the idea of Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh, he proposed to organize summer courses on topics related to Vietnamese history, politics, economics, and culture with the participation of students from both schools. In addition to classroom learning, the two schools can organize for students to visit businesses of different sizes in Vietnam. The goal is to create a model that combines business training with learning about host countries in Southeast Asia and Asia in general, including Vietnam. Thereby, compare the business environment of Vietnam with other countries in the region.
Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh took a souvenir photo with the delegation from the other side.
In the coming time, representatives of both sides will discuss in more detail the specific programs of the courses. This will be the first step for the two schools to move towards other activities such as exchanging lecturers and research experts.
Langara College was established in 1964 as a public college within the Vancouver City College System, and became independent in 1994. Langara College welcomes more than 21,000 students each year, including many international students from around the world. The school's training majors are divided into 5 sub-fields: Arts, Business, Health, Humanities & Social Services, Science & Technology.
