The content of the working session revolved around the cooperation plan to implement the “European Project on Historical Research and Digitization of Social Science Documents in Vietnam” (abbreviated as Vietnamica). This is one of the projects funded by the European Research Council (ERC - European Union) to research the history, collect and digitize social science documents related to Vietnam. The project gives special priority to the Han Nom inscriptions, especially the inscriptions recording the donation activities of individuals at places of worship and village communities. In other words, the project advocates research on “post-steles”, a type of stele that has existed continuously from the 15th to 20th centuries in Vietnam.
The project will be implemented over 5 years with field research activities; organizing group seminars and workshops; organizing working trips to Europe or Vietnam to consult documents at archives or teaching centers, and participating in seminars for participating members.
The project aims to: collect the personal research of members to publish a book series outlining the history of offerings in Vietnam; establish a source of documents and digitized books for research; organize an international conference to summarize all the research results, documents, and graphics collected over 5 years.
