On June 5, 2019, at her private home, Ms. Nguyen Phuoc Chanh Thanh - wife of the late Professor, People's Teacher Phan Huu Dat and her family donated an additional 100 million VND to the Phan Huu Dat Award Fund.

The family of the late Professor, People's Teacher Phan Huu Dat donated an additional 100 million VND to the Phan Huu Dat scholarship fund.

The Phan Huu Dat Award Fund was established in 2011, based on an initial amount of 100 million VND donated by the late Professor, Dr., People's Teacher Phan Huu Dat. Every year, the Fund awards 15 scholarships (worth 1 million VND/scholarship) to students majoring in Anthropology - formerly known as Ethnology (University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi) with high results in study and scientific research. To date, the Fund has awarded 54 scholarships, including 50 scholarships for students, 01 scholarship for postgraduate students and 03 scholarships for graduate students.

The representative of the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Anthropology - Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Truong Giang received the above amount and thanked the family of Professor, People's Teacher Phan Huu Dat for the generations of students, trainees, and PhD students as well as for the development of the Faculty and the field of Anthropology. The Phan Huu Dat Award Fund will continue to be awarded to students, trainees, and PhD students of the Faculty of Anthropology at the opening ceremony of the new year. The award will contribute to inspiring and promoting the spirit of learning and research of learners.

Professor, People's Teacher Phan Huu Dat (1928-2019) was born in Thanh Luong village on the Bo River, Thua Thien Hue (now Thanh Luong village, Huong Xuan ward, Huong Tra town, Thua Thien Hue province), a countryside rich in cultural traditions, poetry, studiousness and revolution.

For more than half a century, he has devoted his entire life and all his passion to Vietnamese Ethnology and Anthropology. Professor, People's Teacher Phan Huu Dat is a person who has made particularly important contributions and had a great influence on the formation and development of modern Vietnamese Ethnology. He is the first Vietnamese person to compile textbooks.Ethnological Basis(1973) as research material and teaching material at universities nationwide for more than 30 years. Since the late 1990s, he continued to support and promote the process of converting Ethnology to Anthropology in Vietnam to better meet the requirements of regional and international integration. In the last years of his life, the Professor donated his entire massive library to the Faculty of Anthropology and founded the Phan Huu Dat Award Fund.
