Welcoming Former Ambassador of Iran to Vietnam

On March 10, 2015, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) welcomed Mr. Seyed Kamal Sajjadi (Chairman of the Vietnam-Iran Friendship Association, Former Ambassador of Iran to Vietnam). Also attending the reception were representatives of the Faculty of Oriental Studies and the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Training Cooperation.

Welcoming Former Ambassador of Iran to Vietnam

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Kim was pleased to announce the important events that took place during the week to celebrate Vietnam-Iran in general and the relationship between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Iran in particular. On March 9, the University organized an Exhibition of Iranian Miniature Paintings and Calligraphy to introduce the beauty of Iranian and Persian art to the University's lecturers and students. The Faculty of Oriental Studies opened a Persian language class, attracting 74 students from inside and outside the University. In addition, the University's Iran Research Department has been upgraded and renovated to meet the needs of research and training on Iran. These are meaningful activities to continue the relationship between the University and the Iranian Embassy as well as the Vietnam-Iran Friendship Association. Through these activities, the University's lecturers and students will have the opportunity to better understand Iranian culture and education to contribute to the Vietnam-Iran relationship in general and the relationship between the University and Iran in particular.

Mr. Seyed Kamal Sajjadi thanked Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim and the University for their warm welcome. The Ambassador said that Vietnam and Iran have many similarities in the struggle for independence against imperialism, as well as many common views on international issues such as human rights and climate change. In particular, the two sides have an East Asian cultural foundation, which is one of the strongest conditions for promoting cooperation. Through this, Mr. Seyed Kamal Sajjadi expressed his desire to build cooperation between Iranian universities and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, as well as committed to providing scholarships for Vietnamese students to study and research in Iran. Specifically, he said that Al Mustapha University will soon offer 5 scholarships to Vietnamese students. This is one of the efforts to expand the understanding of Vietnamese students in particular and Southeast Asian students in general about Iran and Islam.

Mr. Sayed Kamal Sajadi was the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Vietnam from 1995 to 1999, is currently a professor of Sociology at Tehran University, has many works on Vietnam and has translated The Tale of Kieu into Persian.
