On the evening of January 5, 2011, the Center for Research on Development of Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas (University of Social Sciences and Humanities) in collaboration with the Bac Giang Provincial Youth Union organized a ceremony to honor 80 outstanding ethnic minority youth and students in 2010.Attending the event were comrades Nong Quoc Tuan, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Than Van Khoa, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council. On behalf of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, there was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim (Vice Rector).

Here, 80 ethnic minority youth, students and pupils were commended and rewarded by the Provincial Youth Union for their excellent achievements in studying, scientific research, production work, socio-economic development, rural and mountainous construction, and awarded the title of "5 Good Students" to 10 outstanding students in the movement "Good study, good morality, good physical strength, good skills, good integration". Thereby contributing to praising and spreading typical examples of exemplary youth, students and pupils who strive to compete in working, studying, and establishing their careers. On this occasion, the Center for Research on Development of Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas presented money and gifts with a total value of 180 million VND to ethnic minority students, students and rural youth of the province.

Previously, Bac Giang Provincial Youth Union also organized a seminar on “Improving the quality of learning among students in ethnic boarding schools and developing economic models among ethnic minority youth” with the participation of more than 200 delegates. The delegates focused on discussing learning and teaching methods; experiences of overcoming difficulties of students in extremely disadvantaged areas; popularizing science and technology applied to production and business practices, replicating economic development models, etc.
