Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong (General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam) was admitted to the Party while he was a student at the Faculty of Literature, Hanoi University of Science.

Attending the ceremony were former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh; Politburo members: Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, Standing member of the Secretariat Vo Van Thuong; Acting President Vo Thi Anh Xuan; leaders and former leaders of the Party and State; leaders of Party Committees, the Central Party Office, the General Secretary's Office, the Party Committee of the Central Agencies Bloc, etc.

On behalf of the Party leadership, Comrade Vo Van Thuong, Standing member of the Secretariat, respectfully presented the 55-year Party membership badge and presented flowers to congratulate Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Vo Van Thuong warmly congratulated Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong on being honored to receive the Party's noble title, recognizing his great contributions and achievements to the cause of building our Party to be increasingly clean and strong. The speech emphasized: "As a communist soldier in the past 55 years, Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong has always studied and followed Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style of "diligence, thrift, integrity, uprightness, impartiality and selflessness"; his working style is close to the grassroots, close to his compatriots and comrades; in his work he always demonstrates a high sense of responsibility, a serious attitude, a scientific and decisive working method, upholds principles, promotes democracy, respects and listens to the opinions of cadres, party members and people; is trusted and loved by cadres, party members and people, and is respected and highly appreciated by international friends. In his daily life, Comrade lives simply, modestly, exemplary and sincerely. Comrade is a shining example for our cadres and party members to learn from and follow".

Expressing the great honor of being awarded the 55-year Party membership badge - a noble award, right on the occasion of the 93rd anniversary of the founding of the glorious Communist Party of Vietnam, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was very moved to share: "I was admitted to the Party on December 19, 1967, when I was just 23 years old, studying in the fourth year of the Faculty of Literature, Hanoi University, evacuated to Van Tho commune, Dai Tu district, Thai Nguyen province (at that time, the resistance war against the US to save the country of our entire Party and people was at an extremely fierce stage). During more than 55 years of standing in the Party's ranks, I have been educated, trained and guided by the Party, thanks to which I have gradually matured and strived to do a number of things. However, all that I have done is extremely small compared to the Party's educational and training achievements; the guidance and instruction of previous Party members; the cooperation and help of comrades colleagues; encouragement and support from the people, directly from the agencies - where I studied, worked and did business".
On this occasion, I would like to express my deep gratitude to the Party, the State and the People; thank the leaders, former leaders of all periods and all comrades. I vow to strive, sacrifice and be absolutely loyal to the ideals and revolutionary cause of the Party for the rest of my life, to cultivate and train myself; to try to study and follow the ideology, morality and style of President Ho Chi Minh to be worthy of being a member of the Communist Party of Vietnam, as the lyrics of a song say: "If you are a flower, be a sunflower; if you are a bird, be a white dove; if you are a rock, be a diamond; if you are a person, be a communist!".
