On the morning of November 13, 2011, at the 8th floor Hall of Building E, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnamese students and international students studying at the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language held a Cultural and Artistic Exchange to celebrate Vietnamese Teachers' Day.The exchange was also an opportunity for Vietnamese and international students to get to know each other, exchange and explore the culture of Vietnam as well as other countries, and also an opportunity to welcome students of the second course of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies. Many teachers of the Faculty, nearly 150 Vietnamese students from the first two courses of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and more than a hundred international students from many countries and regions (China, Korea, Japan, Russia, Ukraine, Mongolia, Taiwan, the United States, etc.) attended the exchange. International students and Vietnamese students presented flowers to teachers and to each other. In his welcoming speech for the exchange program of Vietnamese and international students, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Van Thi, Head of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language, summarized the rich development and contributions of the Faculty, wishing Vietnamese and international students to continue to promote the good tradition of students of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies, to study well and be successful in the future as many students of previous generations have achieved (among thousands of foreign students who have studied at the Faculty, eight have become Ambassadors to Vietnam, many have become Ministers, Deputy Ministers...)

Min Ho Su, a Korean, currently a second-year student of the Vietnamese Studies for Foreigners Bachelor’s Program, on behalf of the international students, expressed his sincere feelings and gratitude to the teachers of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language as well as the teachers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU. He recounted the memories of the early days when he did not know much Vietnamese, and encountered many difficulties in daily life and communication, for example, when he wanted to top up his phone, he could only point at the phone and tell the seller of the SIM card or card, “No money!, No money!”, making people not understand anything…; Now, thanks to the enthusiastic teaching of teachers as well as the support of the environment and friends, your Vietnamese has improved a lot, you have understood and loved the country, people and culture of Vietnam much more... The cultural and artistic exchange program took place continuously for 3 hours with many unique, rich and attractive performances: The opening of the program was the "Greeting" with 2 clips introducing Vietnamese students studying in K55 - K56 and followed by a performance of costumes of ethnic groups that are very unique and special such as the four-panel dress, ao dai, costumes of the Tay, Muong, Mong, Dao ethnic groups... Russian students brought the song Ca chiu sa with a lively and profound melody, reminiscent... The Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk song "Beo dat may troi" performed by Russian and Chinese students was enthusiastically received. Mongolian students brought songs with the sound of the vast steppe. The traditional dance of the Korean female students was skillful, beautiful and touching. Taiwanese student Wei and Ms. Minh Anh performed the song "Mouse loves rice" in 3 languages: English, Chinese and Vietnamese. The Mong dance "The moon rises to call friends" by the K55 group was very unique and elaborate. The K56 students performed the graceful and feminine "midday dream" dance. In particular, the short play "Heart carving" written by Duong Thu Huong, a K56 student and performed by K55 and K56 students was educational, topical and touching.

In the exciting and bustling atmosphere of the exchange program, the teachers of the Faculty also participated in a few special performances: Ms. Yen with the passionate and affectionate song "Love of the land"; Ms. Bich Nga with the songs "Tieng hat chim da da" and "Cay dan sinh vien" (Student's guitar) lively and youthful... The program ended with two songs "Vietnam my homeland" and "Like having Uncle Ho in the happy day of great victory" sung together by the collective of Vietnamese and international students and the entire Hall clapping their hands. The exchange program was more successful than the participants expected. This was truly a meaningful activity of Vietnamese and international students to celebrate Vietnamese Teachers' Day, a spiritual gift to show gratitude to teachers during the sunny week of November 20th in late autumn in Hanoi.
