Volunteering in the localities

On the morning of July 15, 2014, the Launching Ceremony and Volunteer Handover Ceremony between the Youth Union - Student Association of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and local units in Minh Quang Commune, Khanh Thuong Commune (Ba Vi, Hanoi) and Kien Dai Commune (Chiem Hoa, Tuyen Quang) took place. This year's summer youth volunteer campaign lasted for 20 days (from July 15 to August 5, 2014). The annual volunteering model in the localities always attracts a large number of participants from the Youth Union - Student Association of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

The launching ceremony in Chiem Hoa (Tuyen Quang) was jointly organized by the Youth Union of VNU and Chiem Hoa District Youth Union; with the participation of Associate Professor, Dr. Dinh Van Huong (Member of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Trade Union, Head of the Political and Student Affairs Department of VNU), Mr. Vu Van Hai (Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union - Chairman of the Student Association of VNU), Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huyen (Deputy Secretary of Tuyen Quang Provincial Youth Union), Ms. To Thi Nhan (Permanent Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Chiem Hoa District), Mr. Ha Quang Phuong (Member of the Provincial Youth Union Executive Committee, Secretary of Chiem Hoa District Youth Union), along with permanent representatives of Youth Union branches under VNU and 206 union members and students participating in the campaign. In Chiem Hoa district, there are currently 08 volunteer teams of VNU participating in volunteer work in 08 different communes.

Leading the volunteer team in Kien Dai commune (Chiem Hoa, Tuyen Quang) were comrade Tran Bach Hieu (Secretary of the School Youth Union) and comrade Tran Duc Hoa (Member of the School Youth Union Executive Committee, Vice President of the School Student Association), along with 28 union members - students from different faculties/departments. With a long volunteer trip in a location quite far from Hanoi, comrade Tran Bach Hieu encouraged and motivated the volunteers before starting their mission. Kien Dai Commune Youth Union organized a stopover during the campaign for 28 volunteers at the Commune Health Station, every day the volunteers helped people build roads, pour concrete, teach children, ...

On the side of the two volunteer teams in Minh Quang and Khanh Thuong communes (Ba Vi, Hanoi), led by comrade Nguyen Thi Mai Lan (Deputy Secretary of the School Youth Union, President of the School Student Association) and 55 union members - students. When moving to the communes, the two volunteer teams were divided into small groups, living with local households (according to the "3 common" criteria:eat together, live together, live together). Before that, comrade Nguyen Thi Mai Lan also encouraged and instructed the volunteer teams to be alert and skillful in performing their duties. Every day, the two teams coordinate with the locality to organize youth soccer tournaments, teach children, clear roads, etc.

The 2014 Youth Volunteer Summer Campaign is an opportunity for each member and student of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, together with local youth, to build many practical and useful projects, helping the people and local authorities build new rural areas. This is also an opportunity and environment to practice and improve practical knowledge, demonstrating the enthusiasm and responsibility of youth in building their homeland and the Fatherland.
