From May 30 to June 2, 2015 (backup date June 3, 2015), VNU will organize the first round of the 2015 capacity assessment exam, to obtain the results for admission to VNU's training programs.

As of the end of June 2, 2015 - the last exam day according to the schedule, according to the statistics of the VNU Admissions Steering Committee, the total number of candidates present for the exam was 43,369/45,350 registered candidates, accounting for nearly 96%. In 9 clusters with 21 exam locations nationwide, after 8 exam sessions, the total number of candidates disciplined and suspended from the exam was 9 due to the same mistake of bringing phones into the exam room; a total of 119 candidates had to move to the next exam session, accounting for 0.27% and there was only 1 case of a candidate in Nghe An who had to move to the next exam session due to health reasons and was promptly supported by medical staff serving the exam. Candidates who made mistakes during the exam or encountered computer problems were all moved to the next exam session, concentrated in 3 exam clusters in Hanoi. In exam clusters in Nghe An, Da Nang or Thai Nguyen... the number of candidates moving to the next exam session was very small.

Preliminary results of calculating the scores of candidates at 5 testing locations including Industrial University (Hanoi), Hong Duc University (Thanh Hoa), Vinh University (Nghe An), University of Architecture (Da Nang) and Thai Nguyen University (Thai Nguyen) showed that, out of a total of 10,337 candidates taking the exam, 72.8% of candidates scored 70 points or more (out of a total of 140 points); 2 candidates scored the highest - 125/140 points at testing locations in Nghe An and Hanoi.

No officials violated or were disciplined; no security incidents occurred. In the 7 localities, no examination clusters had problems with electricity, servers, or transmission lines. There were no cases of stopping or transferring entire examination shifts due to technical reasons. Of the total 7,497 computers mobilized for use (both official and backup), only a few computers developed errors during operation.

Innovating admission according to the Competency Assessment (CAA) method at VNU is a breakthrough and necessary solution as well as demonstrating the pioneering role of VNU in implementing Resolution 29 on Fundamental and Comprehensive Innovation in Education and Training.

The competency assessment exam is conducted by Hanoi National University under the direction of the Ministry of Education and Training in the roadmap for innovation in testing and student assessment.

From the results of the first round of the competency assessment exam, it can be affirmed that this is the initial success of VNU in its efforts to innovate exams in the direction of becoming more objective, accurate, fair, transparent, convenient, less costly, and reducing pressure on candidates, their families and society.
