University of Social Sciences and Humanities cooperates in doctoral training with Guangxi University for Nationalities (China)

In recent years, the two schools have cooperated in many aspects of training. Especially in training students for master's degrees. The purpose of this visit is to promote cooperation and expand the doctoral training model between the two schools.

The delegation from Guangxi University for Nationalities includes: Professor Yuan Dingsheng – Vice Rector of Guangxi University for Nationalities – China, Mr. Liu Zhiqiang – Director of the Southeast Asian Language and Culture Institute, Mr. Thon Tuyet Dao – Deputy Head of the International Cooperation Department of Guangxi University for Nationalities. On the side of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, there are Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh – Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Chinh – Head of the Department of Linguistics, MSc. Dao Van Hung – Deputy Head of the Department of Vietnamese Studies and Language and representatives of the Graduate Training Department.

Professor Yuan Dingsheng – Vice Rector of Guangxi University for Nationalities – China proposed a doctoral training cooperation plan with Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh – Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

At the beginning of the meeting, the representative of Guangxi University for Nationalities briefly introduced the majors that offer doctoral training, including: Ethnology, Chinese Language and Literature, Foreign Languages ​​and Literature. The professor emphasized the close relationship between China and Southeast Asian countries in the present and the future. From there, he proposed the idea of ​​a training model based on the cultural foundation and the close relationship between the two countries.

Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh sent his thanks to the Guangxi Nationalities University delegation. He also said that this is a very good opportunity for graduate students from both countries to exchange and learn and improve their qualifications. At the same time, it will increase cooperation opportunities between professors from the two schools: “The three majors that the professors mentioned are all trained by us, so they are very similar and suitable. If we make good use of this opportunity, it will certainly bring many benefits to both sides. The problem now is to find common conditions to be able to realize this idea. For example, the study time of graduate students, the language of study of graduate students or the issue of funding…”.

Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh presented gifts to representatives of Guangxi University for Nationalities at the end of the meeting.

Next, the two sides had a lively and detailed discussion on how to implement the plan. Vietnamese experts also raised many questions about the student exchange program, the number of subjects that the graduate students study, the study time, the degree-granting unit, etc.

At the end of the meeting, the two sides decided that within one month, the two schools will complete the framework agreement document including the purpose, principles, forms, and conditions. After that, each year, the two schools will agree on an appendix of specific agreements on detailed cooperation agreements. It is expected that this year's appendix will be discussed next September.
