Prof. Dr. People's Teacher Nguyen Van Khanh, Party Secretary and Principal of the School delivered a congratulatory speech.
On behalf of the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of the University, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh sent New Year greetings to teachers and their families, and thanked them for their great contributions to the development of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
The Principal also reviewed the outstanding achievements that the School achieved in 2014:
In the work of building and developing the team, the University has received 21 staff from two centers of VNU to work at the University, bringing the total number of staff in the whole University to about 530 people. There are 06 teachers recognized by the National Title Council as Professor and Associate Professor, bringing the total number of staff with academic titles to about 20%, the number of staff with PhD degrees to 50%.
Regarding training activities, the School continues to plan the development of majors and majors until 2020. In 2014, the School organized enrollment for 1 new major and 2 new majors. Currently, the School has 23 training programs for bachelor's degree, 57 training programs for master's and doctoral degrees. The number of full-time students of the School is over 8,000, the number of postgraduate students is nearly 3,000.
2014 was a particularly successful year in scientific research activities. The school successfully bid for 14 State and Protocol-level research projects, 17 Nafosted Fund projects, 03 Hanoi City-level projects and dozens of University and VNU-level projects. School staff won many science and technology awards at all levels, 05 books won the Good Book award, 02 research groups were recognized as strong VNU-level research groups, publishing about 600 scientific articles.
Associate Professor Nguyen Van Ham (Vice President of the School's Former Teachers Association) is reviewing the activities that the Former Teachers Association did in 2014.
The Principal emphasized that the development of the School today is greatly contributed by the team of former teachers. Although retired, the teachers still directly participate in research and training activities, contributing valuable ideas to the development strategy of the School. With their knowledge, experience and enthusiasm, the teachers are not only the "valuable assets" of the School but also a shining example for the next generation to follow.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh also expressed his wish to continue receiving the help and support of former teachers in the upcoming development journey, especially in the context of 2015, the year when the school has many important activities. This is the year towards organizing the 27th Congress of the School Party Committee (the School was chosen as the unit to organize the congress of the whole VNU). In this year, the school also organized many major anniversary activities: the 70th anniversary of the School's founding and the 20th anniversary of the tradition of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
Associate Professor Nguyen Van Ham (Vice President of the Association of Former Teachers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) on behalf of all former teachers of the University reviewed the activities that the Association had done in 2014; at the same time, affirmed the joy and pride of each member of the Association when witnessing the new developments of the University - a common home containing the enthusiasm and affection of generations of teachers.
Also at the spring meeting, the School held a ceremony to congratulate the former teachers of the School on their 80th, 85th and 90th birthdays, expressing the respect and gratitude of the next generation to the elders who have made many contributions to the development of the School.
